Streetkids United 3 – The Road To Moscow is the empowering story of 9 Indian girls who are chosen by Karunalaya Social Service Society to represent their country at the Street Child World Cup 2018 in Moscow, Russia. The girls who all had a rough start living on the streets, where they faced abuse and violence on a daily basis, are an inspiration to everyone who meets them because of their positive and uplifting spirit. They see the event as an opportunity to share to the world their plight. They hope to become a role model for other street children and show that street children are somebody.

The United Nations estimates there are up to 150 million children surviving on the streets worldwide. Life on the streets for these children is filled with danger. Instead of receiving support, they are often blamed for their situation and stigmatized. As a result, they face violence and abuse. Although they are vulnerable, they are also resourceful and resilient – but are denied the opportunities they need to realize their potential.

The Street Child World Cup 2018 in Moscow brought together more than 200 street-connected children from across the world for their own boys and girls international football tournaments, festival of arts and congress for their rights. The Street Child World Cup uses the power of football to raise awareness and tackle the widespread stigma faced by street-connected children, inspiring countries, governments and communities to better protect, respect and support street-connected children worldwide.

Karunalaya Social Service Society is a secular, non-profit voluntary organization working for the protection and development of street and working children in Chennai City since 1995. It was started as a grass roots organization for the care, protection and rehabilitation of runaway, destitute street children, children working in the fishing industry, street youth and empowerment of women in the fishing community, street and pavement dwelling communities.

Karunalaya has branched into many areas of work in the last years, yet, its central program continues to be the rescue, shelter home care, food, clothing, health care, formal and non-formal education for runaway street and working children (boys and girls), and offers counseling, and family tracing and reunification. Karunalaya’s mission is the protection of the rights of the most vulnerable and disadvantaged children and women, and the promotion of a just and lovable society.

Streetkids United 3 – The Road To Moscow is the sequel to Streetkids United II – The Girls From Rio and Streetkids United. Streetkids United II – The Girls From Rio is a documentary film about a life-changing experience for a group of girls from the favelas in Rio de Janeiro, the Favela Street Girls, who are chosen to represent Brazil during the Street Child World Cup 2014. Streetkids United captured the South African team at the first ever Street Child World Cup in Durban in 2010. That event saw eight teams of homeless children from around the world competing for their own trophy.
